Description
After https://github.com/openmicroscopy/sphinx_theme/pull/11 has been opened and merged, it has been suddenly discovered that the default sphinx theme (https://github.com/openmicroscopy/ome-documentation/blob/dev_5_0/common/conf.py#L209) doesn't cope at all with moving the sidebar to the left and results in disturbing overflows of content when the browser screen is narrow.
It has been suggested in https://github.com/openmicroscopy/sphinx_theme/pull/13#issuecomment-48737624 that moving to a more customisable theme would save us unnecessary work on the CSS.

We fixed the overflow issue, I'm not messing with the sidebars any more other than to review the contents.
Shall I push this? Handle it? Move to trello?
