When enlarging thumbnails the resolution of the image does not increase - you are given a larger, blockier image.

Additional information from #3467:
This is an edge case but if you have very small images 6x4 pixels in this case you get inconsistent thumbnailing. The thumbnails are fuzzy initially but if you edit the rendering settings they jump to be crisp. If you switch to view another dataset and then back again you end up with some fuzzy, some crisp.
The wider thumbnails are also positioned under each other slightly in the layout of the view
