Personal Information review

The work will review the personal information held about the user between the clients.

UPDATE: This review has been be pushed as the priorities were to finish the reviews of the metadata panel and the action review between panels.

UPDATE:The end of sprint 7 will focus on finishing the Image viewer review and so this review will be pushed again into sprint 8.

TO BE MOVED TO NEXT MILESTONE: The OMERO clients consistency work has now been ring fenced and so this review will be done for the next release. The focus for the remaining of 4.3 will be completing the existing work and testing.

Summary of review

• If we would like to support any more specific web based information, from the initial range of existing profile sites examined this type of information could cover:
  • date joined?
  • Location
  • Ability to provide links to other core scientific web sites (i.e. google+ provides the link to your other professional profiles sites linkedIn)
  • Groups (with a group icon set)
  • Personal science interests (pubmed keywords?)
  • Personal updates/recent comments
  • lab web site information i.e see ​http://www.lamondlab.com/ or ​http://classic.the-scientist.com/winners/index/. The personal page could provide some level of crossover for the type of information displayed about a lab.
  • Additional information

This is simply a proposal of what information we could present for utilising the web profile page.

• Given any changes to the information present this would effect the way we would have to layout and present additional levels information.

• If additional information is added then how much information is supported in insight is a further key question.

• The profile page could be point to present a summary of activities of the changes, and comments. This information might integrate better on the front page but it is indirectly connected to the Calendar-History Tab #3777.

• To consider: We do have the group selection present throughout the application. But for an individual is it worth displaying all the groups they are in on their profile page?

This would be looking to replicate existing web based applications and the display of group information. This would mean having a static view of the group information from within the profile page. (For Discussion web meeting)

• Question: To help with reading the form we may want to consider grouping more relevant information together on the my account form. i.e. username, first name, middle name, and last name. • Note to added to 21/11/11 web meeting a summary of a review should be presented at a web meeting when necessary.
