Description
The use of service.getXPath(id) throughout the code base needs to be reviewed. Probably instead a buffer implementation should be returned via a get method and all interaction happens via that buffer.

Colin: I think this appeared as a general difference between paths on Windows v. Un*x. Nothing more concrete than that, I don't think.

Referencing ticket #870 has changed sprint.
Is this a known bug - the ticket seems a bit more general covering review and improvements?
