BUG: mixing connections to network

Description
Problem is the same both on Howe as well as Gretzky.
When disconnecting form one form of connection (e.g. cable) and reconnecting to another form of connection (e.g. wi-fi), Insight does not open images properly.
See below for details
CASE A
Disconnect from wi-fi.
Start insight.
Open a dataset (with small images).
Disconnect the cable.
"Network is down" dialogue appears.
Connect to wi-fi.
Insight recognizes the reconnection and the "Network is down" dialog disappears
Try to open an image.
It takes very long - after some time, dialog appears - "This image could not be opened. The image is not a valid image".
If you try to open any further images, the above dialog appears again, no image opens.
If you reconnect the cable again, this does not help, the images still do not open.
You have to quit insight and reopen it to get back to normal image opening.
CASE B
Do the same as CASE A, only swap the word "wi-fi" with the word "cable".
The results are the same, both on howe as well as gretzky.
