BUG: IE8 pyramid - birds eye view

Description
When viewing a large image (e.g. 8kx8k.jpeg), the red square in the birds eye view cannot be moved and thus it is not really possible to view the big image unless you zoom fully out.

Problems being solved that relate to this ticket:
- The birds eye view component that gets the events is not the containing div but the inner image on IE8(+?).
- IE8 fires a LOT of mousemove events when we press the mouse button, even if the mouse isn't moving.
- Event object gets released after the event handler is processed, regardless of a timer holding a reference to it leading to "member not found" errors.
