Trigger scripts/processes automatically on defined events

Description
We need a nice way for scripts/processes to be automatically triggered when particularly events occur. For example, the Lucene searcher automatically indexes new images, it should be possible to set an analysis script such as feature extraction to be automatically triggered on import. We should also consider other hooks, for instance adding an image to a particular dataset might trigger an update of a machine learning database, or to automatically label an image.
