Sequence diagram of FS lite

Reported by: jamoore Owned by: cblackburn
Priority: critical Milestone: 5.1.0-m3
Component: Documentation Version: 5.0.2
Keywords: n.a. Cc: fs@…, hflynn
Resources: n.a. Referenced By: n.a.
References: n.a. Remaining Time: n.a.
Sprint: n.a.

Description

Currently, a very technical description of the FS lite process exists in developer language. This needs to be:

  • updated,
  • translated to a more approachable language, and
  • illustrated with a sequence diagram or similar.

This is explicitly in demo 4.1 since Helen has identified it as the most important bit in order to get started.

I have already produced a less technical doc for Helen with respect to the fs paper. I can adapt some of that work here.

comment:4 Changed 11 years ago by jamoore

Colin, is there a link for that?

comment:5 Changed 11 years ago by cblackburn

No it's currently in a Word doc that I sent to Helen and I'm pretty sure I cc'ed it to you, Jason and Melissa. It was a comparison of the two import workflows. The fs part can be reused.

Yes, I have a non-technical text description, it just needs converting into an actual diagram to go into the paper and docs.

  • Sprint changed from FS demo 4.x to FS Demo 4.3

Moving to sprint3 so we can have them presented during the demo.

  • Sprint changed from FS demo 4.4 to FS demo 4.x

Initial diagram showing import & viewing in pre-FS & FS created and upload to hflynn/fs-paper. This digram probably needs simplifying further and then redrawn to be a little less UML-like and more "designed".

Similar to Mark's Fileset diagram, if there's anyone else who wants to suggest next steps, just pick up this ticket (and move it back to 4.4)

  • Version set to 5.0.2

The diagrams we have for the current Paris talk may well server a a very high level diagram for explaining FS. Do we still need something like a sequence diagram?

comment:15 Changed 10 years ago by jamoore

  • Component changed from General to Documentation
  • Milestone changed from 5.x to 5.0.3
  • Sprint FS demo 4.x deleted

I'd think what we have for Paris is a fine start. Just needs including in sphinx.

I can work on adding the diagrams from the FS Paris presentation to the docs for 5.0.3 if needed - or were you planning to do it yourself @cblackburn?

comment:17 Changed 9 years ago by jburel

Can we close it?

comment:18 Changed 9 years ago by hflynn

  • Resolution set to fixed
  • Status changed from accepted to closed

Yes, sorry, this was one of the things that slipped off my radar when I was off sick. I have a card to transfer the diagrams from the Paris presentation to the docs, which I will mark to do before the end of the year.
