Projection Service stack infinite loop

Description
while starting working on #10262, I realised that we did not have integration tests for the Projection Service (I could not find any).
Few checks missing in the projection bean and more importantly passing a stepping =0 could lead to an infinite loop if startZ = 0 and endZ =1 for example.
