Bug: lif MIF rdefs on develop

Reported by: wmoore Owned by: jburel
Priority: critical Milestone: 5.0.0-rc1
Component: Services Version: 4.4.9

Sprint: OMERO 5 Beta 2 (1)

Description (last modified by wmoore)

I'm seeing some strange behaviour when copying and pasting rdefs between LIF MIF images on gretzky, noticed by Ola:

These are "sample files.lif" from Martin.
On the web, if I copy settings from 1st image [image 01 - XYCh-10x] and paste to the second [image 02 - XYCh-20x], in the image viewer window, the viewer does not update (images not compatible?) but the thumbnail in the main window does. Even when I refresh the thumbnail, it has strange settings (different from image viewer).

Then go to Insight, where I see the same strange thumbnail which doesn't correspond to saved settings (see screenshot).

Copying and pasting in Insight causes crash (reported as #11767).

2 different things in that ticket

  • The crash: insight issue
  • The copy rendering def. Will could you split the ticket. since the 2 issues are not related.

Looking at the code in the thumbnail bean and the rendering bean.
There is no guaranty that the rendering settings used to generate the thumbnails and to open the viewer are the same as soon as you have more than one with same owner linked to the image
Which the case with the test images used.

The class do not use the same code to load the rendering settings. That could be improved

The strategy used by insight (see #11767) is to load the settings with the highest id.
This does not mean that this is the most recent. We could use the settings recently updated using the updateEvent.
That is easy to adjust. The server call will have to be adjusted.
