Figure Interpolation & DPI

Set DPI / size of whole Figure. E.g. 300 dpi & width, height. E.g. 174 mm is 2 columns for Cell http://www.cell.com/cellpress/figure_guide.
Need to be able to adjust DPI of panels, since many Journals have defined limits, E.g. 300 dpi for JCB: http://jcb.rupress.org/site/misc/ifora.xhtml and Cell http://www.cell.com/cellpress/figure_guide.
However, these instructions also say to disable 'Resample Image' to prevent adding dots!
You can adjust DPI either by Zooming panel, resizing panel or interpolating/resizing original.
Tricky to get the UI right for this!
Start by displaying DPI in the Info tab, updating on panel resize / zoom. Maybe highlight in red if below 300 DPI?
Need to know DPI of the document as a whole.
