BUG: Change permissions - group owner Web

Reported by: pwalczysko Owned by: atarkowska
Priority: major Milestone: 5.0.3
Component: Web Version: 5.0.2
Keywords: n.a. Cc: ux@…,
Resources: n.a. Referenced By: n.a.
References: n.a. Remaining Time: n.a.
Sprint: n.a.

Description

Noticed by Tristan during Paris meeting.

In web, there is no possiblity to downgrade group permissions to private at all when logged in as group owner. The other manipulation of group permissions levels was possible. In case of downgrade to Private the button is greyed out. The action was deemed useful by Tristan.

(In INsight, there is no possibility to change group permission level for group owner, menu is greyed out.)

I think there is misunderstanding when downgrading permission is not possible and Private is greyed out. Web definitely handle that case very well. You can always downgrade to Private if there are no annotations created within a group. Private is only greyed out when annotation links exist in read-annotate mode. Web will notify about it when clicking save. See screenshots: PermissionsWarning? & NotPossible?.

Note: you have to be logged in as a NON-ADMIN to see the problem. If you are a group owner which is NOT an admin, you will see that it does not work the same as for an admin.

It seems that there is no way for the client to know if downgrade to private is possible. We simply give the Admin a warning that it *may* not work. Then we go ahead and try!
It may not work even if all the Tags, links etc have been removed (don't know why, but that's just the way the server works just now).
There is no difference between an Admin and a Group Owner trying this. Web needs to be updated to allow Group Owner to downgrade to Private, just the same as Admin.
