Description

Mac OS X 10.9.4
Java 1.8.0_05
Using default security settings

Attempting to launch Insight.webstart on nightshade I get a dialog:

See attached screenshot for more details. I'm not sure if this is due to the OS version, Java version, or something else.

  • Milestone set to 5.0.4

Moving all Java8 issues to the clean 5.0.4 milestone

comment:4 Changed 10 years ago by jburel

Not related to Java8.
Discussed with helen, I will add an entry to the FAQ with some links since it is a known issue since 10.8

comment:5 Changed 10 years ago by jburel

  • Milestone changed from 5.0.4 to 5.1.0-m1
  • Owner set to khgillen

Discussed during 02/09 meeting, Kenny is going to check if we can use UoD account to sign otherwise we will close it.
It is unlikely to work

  • Milestone changed from 5.1.0-m1 to 5.1.0-m2

not urgent for m1 pushing to m2

Just to make us feel a bit better, it's not only us having problems with this OS X limitation. See http://eclipse.org/downloads/ - there is a red warning related to exactly the same problem. The solutions it proposes - https://discussions.apple.com/thread/6551715 - are the same most of the OME team have used to overcome the app lockout.

Kenny: what's the next step here? Push?

comment:9 Changed 9 years ago by spli

Might be easier to just write the long-promised web-importer.

<Kenny> Personally, I'd love to try this, If there's nothing burning once today is over.

  • Milestone changed from 5.1.0 to 5.1.2

Don't see us getting to this at the moment. Pushing. (If I manage to get the single jar in 5.1.1, this can be attempted there or in 5.1.2)

  • Milestone changed from 5.1.2 to 5.1.4

Pushing to 5.1.4 for now

comment:13 Changed 9 years ago by jamoore

  • Milestone changed from 5.1.4 to OMERO-5.1.4

Splitting 5.1.4 due to milestone decoupling

comment:14 Changed 9 years ago by jburel

  • Resolution set to wontfix
  • Status changed from new to closed

Java Web Start will be removed in 5.2
moving to 5.2 and marking it as won't fix
