The error message from Insight upon login failure looks much the same whether the server is not accessible on the network at all or the user's password is wrong. Whatever can easily be distinguished from the client side, it would be great to have different-looking errors for.

This would have helped me this week too with a Johns Hopkins user who couldn't log in to our demo server: it turns out that they have a firewall in the way.

insight is in maintenance mode now so I don't think we will make the suggested changes

Doesn't the ticket apply equally to OMERO.importer?

same code base, we are working towards moving all the functionality to web
Import will be the next target
