BUG: Loss of scrollbar in Data Manager Pane

Description
Testing using OMERO.insight-5.1.2-rc1-ice35-b44-win 64 bit Windows 8 trout latest user-4 Read-Write-1 and Read-only-1
Vertical scroll bar in left hand pane disappears
- reproducible - has occurred a number of times
- seems to be triggered by expansion of dataset - not necessarily large one
- the expansion attempt that triggers the disappearance fails to open the dataset and the focus on the LHP is lost as well
- not restored by changing tabs to screen etc.
- once gone in Projects Tab is also gone in other tabs
- no resizing or fiddling brings it back - have to quit and log back in
- no error message in Insight log.

Similar behaviour for me on Mac 10.8 with Java 1.7.
Behaviour of the tree in Insight is unchanged and working fine, but the scroll bar is missing.

The problem was introduced when working on name truncation. see https://github.com/openmicroscopy/openmicroscopy/pull/3770

I'd mentioned this to J-M. If I recall correctly, he thinks it may have been caused by that recent PR where the too-long names of things adjust to horizontal size changes.
