The timeout is hard coded in Insight (see OMEROGateway.java:2050) with 50x250ms. Would it make sense to make this configurable and/or increase the value?

Mark improved delete performance; I increased the timeout from 12.5 to 25s in Insight (see ​https://github.com/openmicroscopy/openmicroscopy/pull/4363 ), this should fix the problem now, however for the long term this should be handled in Insight better (asynchronously).
