bfconvert writes OME-TIFF with corrupt TiffData

Run
./tools/bfconvert ~/images/vessels.ome.tiff -channel 0 vessels-c0.ome.tiff ./tools/bfconvert ~/images/vessels.ome.tiff -channel 1 vessels-c1.ome.tiff
(or channel 0); it's a 2-channel image, 144 z planes, 288 total.
In both cases, it writes TiffData? elements including TiffData? for IFD 144 (which doesn't exist), resulting in these errors:
Found invalid TiffData: Z=72, C=1, T=0 Error untangling IFDs; the OME-TIFF file may be malformed (IFD #144 missing).
Not sure what's going on here, but it's getting the TiffData? wrong when doing the conversion.
