Description

Several improvements for FS that were discussed during the Dundee get-together in August:

  • Fix the Windows installation: events aren't being caught in DropBox?
  • Move fsConfig.py arguments to etc/grid/{win}default.xml
  • Allow a wildcard specification on the used-files list (or explain that that's mac-only to prevent .DS_Store)
  • Remove exclusion of DropBox/r/root (cF. #1420)
  • Remove hard-code file handling
  • Use up-coming bioformats "best-reader" API
  • Most importantly: implement import-failed handler

  • Resolution set to fixed
  • Status changed from new to closed

Parts have been fixed, others broken out into separate tickets:

  • FIXED Fix the Windows installation: events aren't being caught in DropBox?
  • See #1426 Move fsConfig.py arguments to etc/grid/{win}default.xml
  • See #1427 Allow a wildcard specification on the used-files list (or explain that that's mac-only to prevent .DS_Store)
  • FIXED Remove exclusion of DropBox/r/root (cF. #1420)
  • See below. Remove hard-code file handling
  • See #1428 Use up-coming bioformats "best-reader" API
  • See #1429 Most importantly: implement import-failed handler

Although the first item has been fixed see the defect in #1425.

The hard-coded file handling refers to the fact that each importable file type may have to have a different method for its import strategy. This isn't something that can be removed. Though documentation needs to make it clear which file types can be imported and non-importable types need to be logged accordingly.
