Outcome of 2010 - notes for ASCB 2011

Description
Need to have a banner on the booth
That says something like:
"OME - Free Microscopy Image Software". We had the impression that many punters who walked right past us:
- Don't know we're 'free' (EVERY other booth at the conference is trying to sell something)
- Don't know we do software (NOT consultants, hosting-services, recruitment etc).
When the people we spoke to find out these things, we get a very good response.
But only a small percentage of people actually talk to us - most walk past without being interested enough by what they read on the stand.
The configuration of furniture and laptops was fine for 90% of the time or more.
We had 2 laptops connected to Ola's server, and another one with separate display that was on-line (used clients to talk to gretzky a couple of times).
But we could probably do with one more demo laptop and one more short chair for when it gets busy.
May be a good idea to send an e-mail to the Confocal Lists just before we go
(I think Melissa did this, but we could do an OME/OMERO one too).
NB: Most people have no idea that Bio-Formats is part of OME. More discussion needed!
Not sue if an e-mail to the ome lists is so important, since they already know about us (although it couldn't do any harm).
The poster didn't do a lot for us unfortunately.
We got 3 or 4 people interested and directed them to the booth.
Not sure if this was just because we were on the end of the line, next to a blank space (no show) so didn't get many people milling around. Also I didn't stand by the poster all the time since it felt my time was better served going around talking to vendors (we kinda managed to keep a lookout on the poster from the booth).

Outcome from last year noted. As we have no booth this year much of it is not applicable though we will need to review the impact of this year's poster.
