Description (last modified by saloynton)

meeting with Andy and Pedro to review problems related to the measurement tool.
Tuesday 18/01 10am

Feedback on issues in the ROI

Andy has been working through various datasets with approximately 20 images in each:

  • The problem of having the ROI panel propagation greyed out.

Andy will draw the ROI around the cell move to propagate the ROI and the
action is not available. This is only fixed by clicking in the panel in order to make
active. Ticket #3894

  • Duplicate ROI

The expectation of the ROI duplication is with the annotation. The option of a

copy without the annotation should also be made available. Ticket #3897

  • The reduction in size of pixels the clickable area to duplicate the ROI

When drawing out a small ROI the area has been reduced that would allow for the right-click. Ticket #3896

  • Experiencing a slow down in creating multiple ROI’s

1 – 2 seconds for ROI duplication but the slow down accumulates over images.

  • Annotation in background ROI’s

Andy will generally have two ROI’s one on the area of interest and then a second ROI to have the background values. There is a key requirement to have a viewable
annotations in the second ROI.

  • Key copy and paste advantage provided in ROI tool

The ability to select out several lines of the ROI information and then paste into excel is a great feature. It does not tie Andy into having to use the export to excel
each time when he only requires a small amount of information.

  • Investigation required on use of Keywords

The use of annotations is currently being used in a way that keywords will work. Keywords are currently hidden from use. The investigation requires looking at
several workflows of scientists to question how the workflows may be labelled with keywords. For an individuals workflow Andy required the ability to focus on
particular aspects of the analysis i.e. kinetochore
The exploration of the use of scripts is also critical to this investigation i.e. what keywords will be used by the script and if there might be potential conflict with existing keyword terms of their own workflow already used by a scientist. The will require questioning how keywords will be handled and the choices available between a scientist’s personal workflow and predefined script workflows. User story defined for this investigation #3913.
