Wider user feedback - Andy

Andy has been provided the new version of insight with the importer functionality a meeting.

• The intention is to join this visit with the meeting of #4298 as the required time for the feedback is so short. (This meeting is

scheduled for the week beginning the 21st of Feb)

• The initial comment over coffee has been in the location of the importer icon.

The expectation of Andy was in having the importer functionality icon alongside the Editor.

• UPDATE: Having spoken with Andy again he has still only had a limited amount of images to import and so has only still briefly used the new the new importer. This is limiting any feedback he can provide for this sprint (6), so it will be moved into sprint (7) for the possibility of feedback later on.

UPDATE: Andy is now to review the newest version of the importer that have been scheduled in Task #4581.

Feedback key points

• A decision is required for the policy for including/excluding the bias for .DV file selection. (To check back if a previously raised ticket)

• The label of view is not shown when thumbnail image tick box is selected in the activities window. Done

• A different icon to be used for the import activities. The suggestion was to have an import status icon. (#4816)

• The ability to use the keyboard letters to move to the desired file format in the file format drop down box e.g. L will move down to LEO(*.sxm) #4817

• When an import is completed Andy would prefer to have the main file chooser window remain open and not close automatically.

• Change wording on the file chooser window in both cases needed to change to select. Done

• Positive feedback on the use of disk size and import size. Added if a message should be sent to sys admin to warn that users are attempting to exceed server limits?

• When making a selection to use the LMF file system to be able to login in through OMERO would be an ideal feature.

The following separate points will require further validation with other users:

• The two uses of the import more clearly defined. In the top bar globally defined and so no presets of project datasets are made.

In the tree view the importer uses the presets of project/dataset. #4818

• The move of location of the activities window to within the file chooser window. This was to allow for the activities to be viewed easily against the file chooser. i.e the scenario described by Andy was to be able to compare back and see what files have been imported.

Depending on results, #4816 might not be required.

• There were some problems between the movement the activities window and the movement to the back behind the data manager.

NOTE: I have not experienced this just testing on the mac so I will install and test further on Windows just to clarify the issue.
