Bio-Formats Exporter: prompt to convert types when needed

Reported by: crueden-x Owned by: crueden-x
Priority: minor Milestone: Unscheduled
Component: Bio-Formats Version: 5.0.1

Description (last modified by crueden-x)

When attempting to save image data of an unsupported pixel type, the IFormatWriter API throws FormatException? indicating so. Currently, the Bio-Formats Exporter plugin passes this exception straight to the ImageJ Log window, rather than wrapping it in a nice error message dialog.

Ideally, it would prompt to convert the image to a type supported by the relevant exporter. For example, when saving as QuickTime?, prompt to convert uint16 data to uint8 rather than simply failing.

  • Version set to 5.0.1

We will eventually implement this as part of the SCIFIO + ImageJ2 software stack. Migrated to imagej-plugins-commands issue #5.
