Description (last modified by saloynton)
Read VM page. Maybe ask a biologist to read it.
Points raised:
- For the introduction all a scientist needed to know was - Effectively this means that OME can distribute a canned, ready-to-run environment containing an OMERO.server, thus freeing you from having to install OMERO.server yourself. A clear introduction with the purpose and value the VM has in the introduction. The additional technical information can make the task feel more terrifying than it actually is.
- The use of both mac and Windows screenshots.
- Ensuring the a definition is made before the abbreviated term is used - a list of key terms has been proposed.
- The screenshot with the .ovf extension led to some confusion as this did not reflect the .OVA extension used in the text.
- It is fundamental to have a simplified concept of the virtual machine so that scientists can easily pick up the concept to work with.
- The extension of the documentation for the 3 points at the end, this was already ticketed.
- Using OMERO.clients from within your host OS - for a scientist this is the key one to show for a complete workflow.
- Interacting directly with the server command line interface using SSH into the guest VM
- Interacting directly with the server CLI by logging into the VM directly
