Description
Question: To help with reading the form we may want to consider grouping more relevant information together on the my account form. i.e. username, first name, middle name, and last name. Link http://uxdesign.smashingmagazine.com/2011/11/08/extensive-guide-web-form-usability/ for a summary of background information.
The central reasoning behind is grouping related form fields together makes the form feel easier to complete and less intimidating.
This would impact on insight in terms of maintaining consistency and so the full impact and feasibility would need to be considered.
Example grouping for the profile page each section has the heading and then the relevant labels to that section:
About you
- User name
- First name
- Middle name
- Last name
Contact details
- Institution
Group
- Default group (setting of default group)
- Extra: static view of all groups a member of?
Password
