Importing large images causes server slowdown

Description

I was trying to test importing some of Filipe's images and noticed that the server crawls to a half after you attempt the import. Even if you cancel the import.

Believed this is fixed. Certainly the new optimizations have cleared up most of this issue and I haven't heard any new complaints about it.
