RFE: Extending space on virtual box

Description
A user has filled up the virtual box a strategy is required to help prevent this happening again and an understanding of what can be done in this circumstance.
We seem not to be able to use the virtual machine for OMERO. Before login on the virtual Box, we have the following message "errno 28: no space left on device". And then when we try to log into Insight, it does not work, as we are not connected to the Virtual Box. What can we do? I can't even check how much we have on the virtual machine, or erase things...
