"Channel overlay" dropdown should be grayed out for plates

Description (last modified by jmoore)
- Browser hierarchy (with keys!) to a plate
- click on plate and see it displayed in the middle panel
- click on dropdown and change to split view or channel overlay
- and nothing happens (i.e. panel turns white)
These options should be disabled for plates.
