Browsing in table view doesn't correspond to tree selection.

Reported by: dgaudioso Owned by: wmoore
Priority: major Milestone: OMERO-4.4.7
Component: Web Version: n.a.
Keywords: n.a. Cc: cxallan
Resources: n.a. Referenced By: n.a.
References: n.a. Remaining Time: n.a.
Sprint: 2012-10-23 (1)

Description

To replicate the issue:

1) Open any dataset and choose "table" view in the centre panel
2) Re-order the files (by name or date)
3) Now browse these files. You'll notice that there are inconsistencies when clicking between the two.

What should happen:
1) Clicking on any file in either the tree or centre panel should highlight the corresponding filename

Ideally:

There is an inherent flaw in the mapping between the files. Reordering within the centre panel will achieve exactly that – reordering the files. The issue is that the files in the tree won't reorganise either.

The solution:

A lot of thinking.

Need to sort the items in tree to be in the same order as the table.

However, this is not such a high priority now (not properly "broken"). Moving out of sprint...

  • Milestone changed from OMERO-Beta4.4 to OMERO-Beta4.4.1

Pushing to 4.4.1 since this needs more of a review.

Need to explore ordering of nodes in jsTree: What is the effect of manually re-ordering etc. However, it may be best not to re-order / filter the jsTree itself, but to keep it static. Certainly Gus and I decided that if we filter out images from the center panel, they should remain visible in the tree. Not sure if we really need re-ordering of the jsTree (apart from consistency with center panel). As long as selection sync is fixed, so the same images are selected, then you can re-order the center panel to do work there, but leave the tree alone. This is what Insight is doing now and it seems to work quite well. See https://github.com/will-moore/openmicroscopy/commits/table_thumbs_9466
