Description
If the image window is stretched horizontally, the image remains centred in the field of view, rather than being kept on the left or right, needlessly wasting whitespace, which is present as two equally-sized vertical strips either side of the image. This prevents floating dialogues, such as the ROI dialogue as shown here, from showing an unobscured view of the image. Were the image to be kept to one side, there would then be sufficient whitespace at one side to accommodate the dialogues without partially covering the image.
