Description

Was testing as user-6 in read-only-1 group. Had previously created new project - went into edit name in right hand panel - to “Test R-O-1”. Change appeared in right pane. Clicked refresh in left pane data tree and change was not visible. (x2) Right pane only part of edit now showing - “Test R-O1”. Made change again, clicked on refresh in left hand pane, and got dialog “Do you want to save the modified data before selecting a new item” and a change in the right hand pane - see screenshot 4 in document. Clicked “Yes” and the same dialog reappeared again. Clicked “yes” again and got Java Null Pointer exception crash message - see screenshot 5 in document. Log in same subfolder.

The crash has been saved in another ticket.
The fact that it did not appear is due to the fact that you did not save.
We will need to review the edit section (existing ticket in backlog).
We could replace the edit icon by a save icon when in editing mode to make it more obvious.

  • Milestone changed from OMERO-Beta4.4 to OMERO-Beta4.4.1
  • Summary changed from Bug: edit as admin to RFE: edit as admin

  • Cc rleigh added

After adding a tag, right-clicking and choosing edit permits the name and description to be changed. However, these changes are not updated in the UI, and if the name and description are re-edited, the name and description are unchanged from the original value, indicating that the changes had no effect.

Clicking on the green pencil and changing is text is not particularly intuitive, because there's no indication that clicking on the pencil had any effect. Maybe change the text colour from grey to black to indicate that it's now editable? Also, changing the text selection so that the text is all selected would make editing easier--click on pencil, type to replace existing text.
