Bug: Importer not shown in taskbar, and is hidden behind main window

Description (last modified by rleigh)
Not readily apparent on MacOS, due to having different window management than Linux/Windows?, though even there it's not quite right.
The importer window does not have an entry on the taskbar (see screenshot), though it is present in the alt-tab list. It should be in both.
A second issue is that it keeps getting moved under the main Insight window, completely hiding it from view, making it quite unusable. This includes when I switch back to the desktop in VirtualBox?: it's placed on top of the main window, and if I click outside the virtual session and then anywhere in the virtual session, it's automatically sent to the back. [Note this is a VirtualBox? issue.]
Thanks,
Roger

Using "xprop", I've compared the properties of the Terminal application with the Insight main window (see attachments).
Some comments:
Insight does not have
_NET_WM_WINDOW_TYPE(ATOM) = _NET_WM_WINDOW_TYPE_NORMAL
which means it's not a regular window. I'm not sure what type it is, but it's possible it's being treated as a transient popup like a file selector, rather than a main window.
While I'm not an expert here, it's also shown to not accept input or input focus
Client accepts input or input focus: False
and it also has a pile of obsolete junk OpenLook? and Motif properties set, which may or may not be causing problems. The input focus definitely looks wrong; it's possibly a side effect of not being a main window.
Also, WM_CLASS(STRING) = "sun-awt-X11-XFramePeer", "java-lang-Thread" should really be the application/program name (insight/Insight) rather than the Java defaults. This is the same on all platforms, BTW.
And WM_ICON_NAME(STRING) = "user-5 user-5's Data Manager" should be Insight, not the window title? That would match the behaviour of other applications.
I think the main issue here is the lack of being a normal window, but clearly there are a number of other issues here. I'm not sure how swing/metal allow one to configure the above, but I would not expect the main window to be broken by default.
