Bug: Field spatial view is not working

Description
See attached screenshots. The scaling of the field view is in need of fixing--it has the following bugs:
- thumbnails are not scaled to their true size on the grid; scaling should adjust the grid /and/ thumbnail size, rather than just the thumbnails; they should align next to each other in their true spatial orientation.
- fields are missing from the grid
- the grid is not scrollable, even when it's scaled up
At present, I can't see this as being particularly usable; you can't visualise the data meaningfully, and most of it is missing.
