RFE: Remove/delete in Web

Reported by: pwalczysko Owned by: wmoore
Priority: major Milestone: Unscheduled
Component: Web Version: 5.0.2
Keywords: n.a. Cc: rkferguson
Resources: n.a. Referenced By: n.a.
References: n.a. Remaining Time: n.a.
Sprint: n.a.

Description (last modified by pwalczysko)

Delete (attachment, file, dataset) command should work in the following sense:
Delete would completely delete the attachment from the server (or image or other entity from the Dataset, Project or other entity) only if the entity being deleted does not belong to any other image, Dataset, Project etc. Only in case the entity (tag, image, attachment etc.) would become orphaned, the full delete from the server would occur.
(Optional:)
In such case, the Remove/Unlink? option does not have to be used at all and the majority of users would not be getting confused by it.
Graphics:
In OMERO.Web, under TAGS, the minus sign which should siginify "remove" tag is too thick, short and badly visible, so that it is unclear that it is a minus - either make it longer and add more contrast or replace with cross.
The same goes for the minus sign in the ATTACHMENTS.

  • Milestone changed from OMERO-4.5 to Unscheduled
  • Sprint 2012-11-20 (2) deleted

After discussion with JM, we're going to push this for now since:

  • It needs a bit more discussion on if/how we try to define a "shareable" file (E.g. Protocol) vv a single-use file (E.g. OME-TIFF).
  • This is extra functionality that we'd want to replicate in both clients, but we have enough Bugs & FS-lite stuff to be getting on with just now.

  • Resolution set to fixed
  • Status changed from new to closed

Remove had been replaced with Cut in web. No-longer valid
