Turn off the ability to tag or add attachments to objects not in the same group. Maybe we should not allow users to rate or add comments too. I think that it could add more confusion: "why I can rate but I cannot tag".
Opinions??

Jean-Marie, I'm not sure. Where would you want to prevent rating and commenting? By whom on what?
comment:4 Changed 12 years ago by jburel
I do not want to prevent anything, it is just that due to the current limitation, for the first round, we will not allow user to tag/add attach to objects from different group (i.e. tags need to be duplicated) so if we allow to rate/comment, users might be confused.
No technical problems there just avoiding user's confusion.

But they would be able to use tags from the same group, right? In which case, rating and comment would ok, I'd think. Maybe I'm still misunderstanding.

looks like a miscommunication issue. The point I was making is only for collection of objects than are not in the same group.
If they are all in the same group nothing changes.

Ah, right. Click on all and apply something. I can see that.

Scott: any opinions?

I had been trying to find a useful example to that, we could take the steps from.
This was even more important given that it will roll out for
- My initial thoughts were looking for a tag/rate all type action buttons that would be active when you have multiple images selected. This would have to be discussed as it could get overcrowded easily.
- The best I have seen so far was for flickr showing 'your group information'. I have attached a small screenshot of this, but I will put together a few more examples. So I can demonstrate what I mean properly.

The problem here is multiple images (or any objects) from different groups. B/c of the actual implementation, it will be confusing to allow tagging/add attachment in the first instance. My question was: in the case of objects from multi-groups do we want to allow rating/add comment or not?
Multiple selection is a problem that need to be reviewed and is certainly part of a larger question.

Following various discussions, we decided to turn off the batch annotation when objects from several groups are selected at the same time.
This will be turned back on when server is ready.
