BUG: "Import As" issues with permissions

Reported by: rkferguson Owned by: jburel

Description

Reported by Markus Posch using Linux version:

Once I have finished an import and want to do another import, the folder and dataset imported to becomes no longer available.
That is their name comes up in the drop down list, but can not be selected or highlighted.
So one has to create a new folder and dataset - ending up with lon, but redundant lists.

  • import failed on several occasions
  • created different folders and dataset as I went along and have deleted a couple, when import failed
  • currently one import seems to get stuck at section 11 of an image stack

I created a new folder right from the start and new dataset.

After finishing (or failing) I could not access (or import to) the folder/dataset I had previously generated and written to.

Investigated by GF: - using Mac 10.8 on Warlock - 4.4.7 stable release.

I was initially unable to reproduce Markus's problem on the Mac but subsequently managed it.

Logged in as the admin user and trying to "Import As"

  • initially basically not able to import anything into the private groups as all the folder-dataset options are greyed out when ordinary user is selected - even as owners of the containers.

As Admin user other user's projects and datasets are not greyed out but are not selectable.
Also when an ordinary user is selected in a Private group, the projects and datasets of other users in the group show up in the drop down - albeit marked with a red dot.

The read-annotate group seems to behave as expected - managed to import data there without reproducing Markus's problem.

Went back and tried again and the private groups were behaving totally differently:

  • all ordinary users projects and data sets are greyed out for their owners
  • but I can import as them creating new projects and datasets or just without creating anything and other users are not showing
  • and admin is only seeing his own projects and datasets and can select them and import into them as himself.

Ordinary user's projects and datasets are not showing up at all when Admin user selected.

Now managed to reproduce Markus's issue - as ordinary user can't import to containers owned by ordinary user.

Annotated screenshots in attached JPEG comparing issues.

NB: when testing - extremely inconsistent behaviour - may have to try a number of time or log in and out as other users to trigger it.
