Description

Now that we expect people to be able to run tests using py.test perhaps it would be good to add an install pytest or suchlike to docs/install/python_deps.sh.

Since python_deps.sh is meant to be used to install Python packages for production servers, I would suggest to isolate the developers requirements somwehere else.

Use doc/install/dev_requirements.txt instead? Or doc/install/dev_python_deps.sh?

Yes, sorry after asking Mark to raise this as a ticket I neglected to comment. I was going to query whether this should be a dependency as expressed in that file or not. Would it be sufficient for this to be made explicit in the documentation?

  • Resolution set to fixed
  • Status changed from new to closed

The installation and use of pytest is now documented on both 4.4 and develop. As pytest is not a dependency for non-developers I am assuming this documentation is sufficient and closing this ticket.
