Sprint: OMERO 5 Beta 2 (1)

Description

Contents of the old code submission forum have been moved into the private section on the forums as this is replaced by the new script sharing page. Needs any content which is still useful moving into a proper user-scripts repo on github so people can install it properly, and the rest deleted.

Helen: is this just a matter of copying the files in? Or is there something else left to do?

Alex's image size script is on the list of scripts that will be going into his repo so can be deleted from here altogether. That just leaves the 'restore colours' script, which appears to have been written for OMERO 4.3. @wmoore - is that script still useful?

comment:3 Changed 10 years ago by wmoore

Yes - the restore colours script is useful - sorry, I forget who wrote it now. The functionality is useful to quite a few users and the code has been useful for devs as an example of Original Metadata parsing.

Pierre Pouchin is the original author. Where do we want to put this script? He's still active on the forums, shall I email him and invite him to put it in his own user scripts repo so we can link to it from the script sharing page? Or ask him if he minds if we put it in the example scripts repo as an alternative?

comment:5 Changed 10 years ago by jamoore

@hflynn: I would say contact him and if he's game bug thumbs up. Otherwise, since it's been validated it could even go into core. Will?

Email sent to Pierre.

Alex's scripts will be moved to a repo when we figure out how to do that. Other script from forum is Pierre's restore colours script which is now in his user repo and just needs to be updated with Will's edit via a PR. @wmoore - do you need your update to the restore colours script keeping until you open a PR or do you have it saved somewhere anyway?

comment:8 Changed 10 years ago by wmoore

I have now downloaded Pierre's Restore_colors script from the forum. Just testing now before I open a PR...

comment:9 Changed 10 years ago by hflynn

Ok, Will has fixed Pierre's script and I've added it to the table of scripts on the script sharing page and also added his repo to the list of repos so people can find his other scripts too. That's all the content from the forum either available via the new page, or planned to be once Alex can make his code work. So I'm going to delete the private forum and close this as fixed now.
