From the description file in the submitted QA file:
FEI's newest TEM software exports in an updated FEI TIFF format. They distinguish the new files from the old by using a different tag pointing to the metadata. Helios users 34682 while the Titan and Metrios tools use 34683. The XML data must also be slightly different as manually copy 34683 to 34682 allows the file to be imported using the included FEI TIFF file but no metadata is read. I haven't had a chance to compare the Helios metadata to the Titan/Metrios? metadata.
Attached is an example TIFF file and a text file with comments on file structure.
