Description

A short review of the new standalone importer against the older version to validate the workflow between the two. Note - this is not to add additional functionality but ensure there are no core elements from the old importer that might need to be considered in the new version.

The code is now ready for review.
You can test with the following build (friday 21/10/11 7pm)

To turn the debug mode on or off:

  • go to the config folder
  • open importer.xml in text editor
  • at the end of the file, replace:
    •
false

    • by
true

  • restart the application, if you want to switch back you will have to close the application

and modify the same value.

Thanks for this JM, my internet connection has been a bit limiting so I have had to work offline with just a basic review of the old importer. I will make sure I have a full go tonight and tomorrow.

Notes: I have made a quick diagram in the effort to try to document the steps of the old importer against the new importer this has been attached as omnigraffle file.

The main question this raised is an edge case with the value of the import history, as once imported the old importer displays the images in the import queue list until cleared (The image name is greyed out to indicate that it has been imported).
The new importer does provide this information in the separate import tab, although this information can be lost once the tab is closed.

There was a further aspect identified with the location for adding a tag through the import process though this is a separate issue that has been ticketed.
